I'm very shy, but I love my friends. Because of that it can be hard to get to know me. .
I just like being myself which is generally weird. I'm hoping one day to become an artist for either fantasy movies or computer games. I always like meeting new people. I also speak some Japanese but want to learn more.

Imagination, Life and everything in-between

...And so we are free

"revenge is a dish best served cold, it is very cold in space"

Hello!!!! The extra exclamation marks are there for my happiness at finishing uni for the semester. So yes, hello there!

So I don't really have that much to talk about this time. I started my holidays on the 15th, although I really should say 16th since I spent most of the 15th almost passing out from lack of sleep. I only had 3 hours sleep over the last 2 days leading up to submission, crazy huh? I'm reasonably happy with how everything turned out though and compared to last year I was a lot better organised at getting all my work done. So improvement all around right? However don't take my word for it, check out my artwork in the two nmit folders (design and illustration) and the animation I submitted for my digital class below assuming of course that the youtube link'll work properly for me, (I managed with the last one so it should be alright).

I'm going to a class party tomorrow night at Robin's house so hopefully that'll be good fun, talking about parties, I've changed alcohol of choice, rather than midori, I've moved onto strongbow, it's quite nice. It's nostalgic for me, always thinking of the ads where someone would whistle really loud and the bottle would explode, why can't they still do ads like that? Although the newer ad with the girl makiing a tree out of furniture is pretty cool, Vicky always has to mention how she likes the girl's hair every time she sees it.

I guess there really isn't too much else, mostly just been catching up on all the things I've been missing for the past couple of months, like comptuer games and anime and Star Trek. Ahh 3 very awesome things to do, but I'm also going to try and get lots of drawing done too. Hopefully I can manage something substantial, unlike last time.

I also started watching a person's video blogs on youtube, maybe you've heard of community channel, she's pretty damn popular. She's hilarious, mainly becasue she's a bit of a geek and quite weird too. So check her out if you want to. I'm quite addicted though, with vicky we've already watched over half the video's in a couple of sittings.

My little brother got swine flu, he's fine though, I swear this flu has been so hyped out of control. People seem to think they're going to die if they're near someone who's got it. Compared to whatt I've seen with other people who get flu, this was bloody mild. Still it didn't stop some people in my family from heading for the hills. My older brother and his wife wore masks for the 10 minutes they were in the house before running off to my nan's house. *sigh* I now live in the swine flu captial of Australia.

who says you don't get anything new with my blog? Today's quote is not music, for once I give you my choice quote from Star Trek II The wrath of Khan. What's not to love about Ricardo Montolban and his plastic chest.

update: Just had crepes made by Grandma for dessert, mmm so good. Nutella and vanilla icecream is best!

anyways thats it for me, see you next time everybody.

May 29

and we come to our final stretch

"More than ever
I hope to never fall,
Where enough is not the same it was before"

(insert west-country accent) Oh, hello there. (close west-country accent).
so what's new? Wait, maybe considering you're reading this perhaps you want to know what's new with me? Well I can enlighten you with that, but as usual my 'light' is just a pissy little globe attached to a triple A battery. It has been a bit since I wrote an entry so maybe I've saved up enough 'life' that there's enough to tell you about.

Easter was pretty awesome, particulary the egg hunt, mum and Emma were really good at hiding the eggs, the problem is they forgot where they'd left some of them and we were finding them weeks later around the house.

Well it was my birthday, now more than a month ago. So I'm twenty-three now, sometimes I feel a little old. I had Japanese Curry for dinner that night, along with pork buns, spring rolls and dim sims. What a feast that was ^_^ おいしいかったです!

Illustration is still going pretty well, although it seems that i have less and less time to myself theses days, I'm always doing homework. Sometimes I think I'm just terribly slow and thats why it takes me so bloody long to do any piece of work. I'm happy with how things are going though. I finish the semester in two weeks and I'm really looking forward to the holidays and getting back to some of my projects, as well as catching up on a ton of movies I still haven't seen yet and many games that need playing. Expect to see a lot of work coming up on here soon! ^_^ By the time you're reading this there should be a childrens book cover uploaded in my 'nmit illustration section', That can be a taste of things to come.

I just finished a really awesome anime, called 'kamichu!' its about a junior high girl who becomes a god, it was on par with spirited away in terms of character design and the animation was quite beautiful too. There were so many awesome gods (all based on Japanese mythology). A prime example is べんてんさま (Benten sama) She's the goddess of all things that flow (music and knowledge to name some). She plays a biwa (a Japanese instrument similar to a lute). In this anime she was designed as a rock star, but still had many of the features found in ukiyo-e artworks of her. Definately a must-watch!

Todays lyric is from a song by Poets of the Fall, 'Carnival of rust', a band from Finland. I've been listening to this song quite a bit lately

Well thats about all for now
catch ya next time

Back to the moving world

"Their howls are sending chills down my spine
And time is running out now
They’re coming down the hills from behind"

Well home along the ranges....Well except I live in North East Melbourne so there isn't really any ranges to speak of, but all the same...hello to ye and greetings to all the peoples from other worlds who may be visiting. I come in peace to deliver this blog entry in the name of Richie.

So the last entry was just after xmas, as promised I will have some photos posted up by the time you read this, unless of course you're reading it as soon as the blog entry itself is posted...はやい you're fast. Give me a moment to gather my thoughts....So what's been happening in my world you ask? Well since you asked so politely I'll "furnish" you with an answer, which is a nice leather couch. Well I'll go back to the beginning, when I was born....no no, too far...too graphic!

Right so going back to the holidays, which is everything from the last entry to the 22nd of Feb. Well not much really happened of any interest, even to space creatures. I mostly spent the time seeing friends and working on my personal projects. One thing that was particulary fun was re-watching Star Trek Deep Space Nine with Brooke. Such an awesome show and definately one of star trek's best. Its just so much more enjoyable watching it with someone who's so new to the trek experience! Vicky and I sure made a trekkie out of her...one more convert for the army. ^_^ The one thing that particulary marks my geekiness, as well as Brooke's and Vicky's, while everybody was going crazy on new years eve, we were watching Deep Space Nine...crazy huh? We've also been enjoying some of the more hot days this summer in Brooke's swimming pool, it was really great to be swimming around again, considering I haven't swam in so many years.

So really, apart from enyoying all the great anime thats been coming out (Bounen No Xamdou and Afro Samurai Resurrection) to name a couple as well as getting into some older realeases (Strawberry panic and Inuyasha) There hasn't been much else.

I found strawberry panic to be particulary interesting. It's a yuri (which is lesbian relationships). I started thinking it would be much like the Western idea (which I've never understood). But the story was much, much more than I expected. The drama of it all was just so beautiful. I guess I found it interesting mainly because after watching so many love-romance animes, they start to all sound the same. Guy likes girl but he's a ちかん (pervert) so she ends up smacking him, but eventually they end up loving each other. Of course I'm just generalising, I have seen some rather different romance anime out there.

Mums birthday this year was particulary interesting, I believe it was Emma's idea. We decided to create a multi-cultural dinner, so we decided to make or buy 1 thing from some countries...here's the list

Taiwan - BBQ pork buns

India - Samosas

Italy - Mini pizzas

Australia - Meat pies

Britain - Toad in the hole

Spain -Olives and Dips

France - French stick

Egypt - Falafel

China - Corrianda dumplings

Japan - Sushi

Poland - Bagles

Morocco - Meatballs

Palestine - Kibbeh

and for dessert...

New Zealand - Sticky date cheesecake

USA - Choc caramel muffins

Turkey - Baklava

She was quite impressed, of course the coolest thing to do was making little flags for all the dishes, so with some help we managed to make flags for all the foods.

As you can see in the photos, I'm wearing a light scarf around my neck, I've had a few for a while, but I guess I was afraid of trying it out. I'm happy though, I like it.

So I've started Uni again for this year, oh it's so bloody hard getting up early, not to mention trying to go to bed earlier. I'm such a night owl, I just have a compulsion that won't allow me to go to bed until at least 12am. It's rather overwhelming though, the second day in we already got a project due in a week though I'm pretty happy with what I've got thus far I found it quite hard to straight into work again.

The other day, yesterday I believe I watched the Disney movie, 'Mulan' (which is the one about the girl in the Chinese army). This is probably my first re-watching of a Disney movie since I've gotten into anime, I just couldn't help making observations. The first thing I noticed was how beautifully simple it's drawn in comparisen to Anime, not to mention the lack of shadows in most of the shots, but I loved it. I guess I wasn't interested in any of any Disney stuff since I always think of newer stuff (pixar) on which I've made my opinions known. Probably going to watch the second movie later tonight.

There'll probably be some artwork up every few weeks, so remember to keep watching this space. ^_^

Today's musical quotation is from Within Temptation's song 'The Howling'

that'll be all, catch ya

December 27

The new world is upon us

"could you understand, if you're the outsider viewing in"

Well hello there to all the peoples who view such a space as it is, indeed it is my space to which I refer and particulary if you're reading this you're reading this you intend to partake in this blog and all its weird stuff...just like the previous and overly long last sentence!

First of all, I hope everybody had a great xmas, or however else you decide to celebrate this time of year. I had a lot of fun, playing team scattergories, which is sharing answers between 2 people and adding up points together. So here's some of the cool stuff I got. There was 2 hats which hopefully I'll have some uploads of photos soon. Some awesome art books, including one on vehicles, which is something I reallly want to persue, but I've had a lot of trouble getting anything good to come of it. Also a book on 500 anime movies...so I've got a lot of watching and searching to do!

I helped Rachel clean up her room and reorganise her manga (again!), I did manage to score some nice free stuff, like calenders and posters and a couple of drawing books. of course she had to embaress me at least once during that time, saying something on the lines of me having good lips for make-up or something, geez, so embaressing! はずかしい・です・ね!

I was pretty happy with how uni and the exhibition turned out. I was quite proud of the work I had up, though I don't think anybody saw it, oh well I guess you can when I get it back..whenever that is. I got 2 Distinctions and 2 credits for my subjects and considering I'm the most inexperienced and youngest person in the group I', reallu happy with how it all turned out. Cheers to Rachel who is to my knowledge, the only person who saw the exhibition.

I finally got my new computer! after looking after Rachel a few months ago I had enough money, but knew if I were to get it before uni finished I would be quite distracted. Sure enough I've been on it quite a lot, finally being able to play all those games I haven't been for so very very long! Here's the specs:

intel dual core E2200 @ 2.2GHz
2 Gig of RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 9500 GT

So not really a beast of a system, but I'm loving it! Now of course no more bloody problems with the sound card either, maybe some people remember the clicks and all other mess of weird shitty noises that my speakers made? Well it was a problem with the onboard sound card. One thing I liked better about the ATI cards is the theater view mode you could use on 2 displays, unfortunatly Nvidia cards don't come with the feature. Oh theater mode is where videos and some other programs automatically fullscreen on the secondary display, so instead I have to drag the video over to the other screen. I can't use clone view since I'm running a 19" wide LCD with a 17" CRT.

For those of you who don't know Chirs is now married! So now Emma is my sister-in-law! Sounds so strange! hehe anyways It wasn't a big wedding  or anything, basically just a small amount of words on a lady's porch in the rain. Speaking of Chris, with his money problems, he's moved back into the house, So its quite full now, I guess the Japanese exchange students will have to wait a while *smiles*. I've been playing a lot of 360 games with him like Halo 3 and Gears of war 2, awesome awesome games, those ones. Also been watching lost of cool movies with him. Like the Matrix trilogy and Star Wars, always so enjoyable to watch.

I'm adding some more drawings so be sure to check 'em out! I'll have lots more once I get all my project work back from uni.

Todays line is from 'bring on the rain' by vanishing point, a band I really like and they're Australian too! Nice and appropriate name considering I'm an artist and all.

Well then I'll take my leave of you now, remember: there is no spoon unless of course, you like ice cream or brekfast cereal hehe

November 15

The end has come, like an ant in a electical socket

"In these hands I will stand 'til the end of time"

So yes here we are again for yet another edition of this blog, yes thats right, its still around. Welcome welcome, come on come in. Ahh I need to watch Lord of the Rings again, been waiting for the holidays to finally start, so I could finally see it again: which brings me to my first point! Talking point! (plays trumpet). I've finished uni for this year as of monday although I had some other stuff to do, but I'll go into that later. It feels great to finally remove all the pressure I had getting everything done, including a couple of days I got absolutely no sleep at all, I also stupidly hadn't eaten anything the whole night until about 4pm the next day. It really got me wondering how some people manage to be anorexic, I had such terrible stomach pains that day I thought my body was eating itself...probably not too far from the truth I guess hehe. Anyways It's over! So I feel thiiisssss good (stretches out arms to encompass a binary star system). On Wednesday I spent most of the day at uni framing some of my work for the exhibition. Its really amazing how much more professional and better looking a piece of work is once it's in a frame. So although it took ages I feel it was probably worth the effort.

This brings me to my next point. On Monday (thats the 17th) is the opening night of the bach of illustration at nmit, if you wanna check out some nice work from everyone in the course feel free to come along. It's from 6-8pm, building B at the fairfield campus. Although if you don't or can't go opening night, the exhibition is on till the 23 of December, so plenty of time.

Emma gave birth on the 4th, so now I'm an uncle to Ethan James Ellis. He's the talk of the house and everybody's always wanting to hold him and stuff. Not me though, I'm just not really into kids I guess.

on the 6th it was Vicky's birthday..おたんじょうび・おめでとう!! It was all CDs and fairies for her!

uhh let me see, what else. Mmmmm. (I wonder if Maccas trademarked their mmm...) So thats about it then, over the nect I should be uploading some of artwork from uni, although I haven't got my folios back yet so I'm still missing most of my work. So if anybody wants to party or come over or something, I'm now free for all that ^-^

Todays musical quote is from 'In These Hands' by the butterfly effect. at first I didn' like this album as much as their other 2 but lately I've really started to get into it.

Well then I shalt look forward to the next chance of out meeting weary traveler.

おやすみなさい!

*waves*

October 09

...and then some

”Through the window the watcher came"

Well seeing as I only recently published an entry (2 weeks ago I think) I won't have near as much to talk about, which means anyone who reads this will not be sifting through so much text to find the juicy bits, of which I'm hoping there are some, but without further stalling for time...here it is at last

WELCOME....no no the big one, the big one
WELCOME...no no still more impact, change the colour too...

WELCOME!
(there we are, nice generic sans serif font for you)
mmm...Much better, that's the kind of welcome I want you to have, a rather royal or perhaps cabinet style welcome...yes yes come in sires and uh (what the hell is the female equivalent to sire anyway?) Oh well welcome to ye all, whoever you are (there, that covers all bases) So yes rather than going off into tangents about who knows what, I'm sure you'd rather hear about my eventulous week (I know it's not a word,  so we'll call it artistic license...hell if Beck can do it, why can't I?) So it's like an adventure without the excitment of jumping in the air after an explosion or running away from crazy chimps. But thats all in the spirit of waffling...maybe that's because there isn't much to say in this blog so I thought I'd ramble for a while...but enough!

So the real information starts here. My friend Rachel (not to be confused with my other Rachael friend. Notice the absence of the 2nd 'a'? For some reason this 'one a' spelling gives it a French feel, so I sometimes call her French Rachel, or accent it when I want to differenciate between the 2). So yes Rachel has glandular fever... which from what I've been told is quite nasty. I've never had it so I don't know and I didn't witness the worst of it. So She asked me to help look after her for a couple of days, it was mainly just running around a lot, but oh well, had some fun too...watching some anime (like xxx holic, (no it's not porn, shame on you!) which has a really interesting visual style and great if you're interested in Japanese folk-lore or superstions and the like), hopefully she gets better soon. I even made some money out of it and now finally have enough to buy a new computer, which is great because this thing is so old I'm suprised its working at all (wait didn't I make a joke about that last blog? I think I'm noticing a pattern). So yes I'll be able to play new games again, it got to the point where I stopped getting my gaming mag since I was only reading about games I couldn't play.

So yeah, thats really the only interesting thing that's gone on in the last couple of weeks. Apart from some stuff I'll be adding to the nmit artwork folder (which will hopefully contain said new work by the time you read this message), including a captain Haddock (Tintin) Russian Constructivist Whisky bottle (it's no 'e' so you know it's scottish not american)。I'll hopefully get round to finally uploading my animations onto utube so anyone who hasn't seen them can finally see them, or something like that

Well yeah and thats really about it peoples of the free world of middle earth...though you may be part of this ficticious realm, the following farewell statement applies, but you are also required to pay the 'other worlders tax', of 2 ferrets.

today's musical quote is from 'window and the watcher' from the butterfly effect's new album 'the final conversation of kings'. An awesome album from an awesome band especially the trumpet...in some songs gives this kind of jazzy feel.

EDIT: Hopefully the link will work... but finally after much painstaking mucking around, I managed to upload my flash trailer to youtube so check it out if you want

anyways catch you later
じゃあ・ね!
*hugs*

September 27

So, here I am, back again at last

"whoever controls Dune controls the spice,

whoever controls the spice controls the universe"

おうすHello! Crap, it's been a long time since my last entry! There's so much to tell I don't know where to start and hopefully I won't leave anything out. Let me see, ah!

Chris and Emma moved out of the house (2 months ago) so now there's just me Vicko and Dave around upstairs, so lots more space and I can use the rumpus room late at night (I couldn't becasue I'd wake them up since they're in the next room). They have a brand spanking new (such a funny saying) house in Craigeburn that looks the same as every other house in craigeburn, complete with symonds product placement (there's a symonds 's' on the front doorhandle). Its a pretty nice place, with all that modern stuff, like those strange basins that sit on top of the cupboard and left and right single taps. Emma bought another dog, Kaiser; some kind of boxer I think, it'll be bigger than Dargo. It's funny though, this new dog has made Dargo all mature, he tries to ignore Kaiser's attempts at play until eventually he can't stand it and attacks him. Although I like the extra space, I do miss Chris, We used to watch lots of movies together and of course it's great that he gets all the quotes from Star Wars and the like, Vicky only gets Lord of the Rings mostly. Now many of my quotes go unrecognised. On the plus side this gives us an extra room for all manner of stuff, including hopefully one day another Japanese exchange student...That would be so awesome.

Mmmm...what's next? Wait a minute, why am I asking you? I haven't the slightest, but how could you possibly know what I'm going to type before I've typed it? Hell I don't even know what I'm going to say next! Unless you know the future...but then why would you be reading this if you already know it all? Get going future person. *points at Internet door (or rather maybe I should install a door on this MSN space?)*

In July I went to Rachel's 19th birthday party, which was OK. Mainly because I didn't know anyone there really, or only vaguely at least. Also most of the time was spent playing games like Mario cart and the like, so not the kind of games I'm interested in. There was also this game where you control wind, which led to all these awful jokes about "blowing", Just nasty *sigh*I got lots of reading done though. One of Rachel's friends, Sarah wanted to braid my hair, I eventually caved in...so embaressing はずかしい・です・ね。 The next morning however I managed to have some lengthy talk with some of the people there, over pancakes, yum! パンケーキ・は・おい失火他です。Especially the ones with smarties in them ^_^ Oh the book I was reading was His dark materials: The Norhern lights (or book 1 in the golden compass), a really awesome and exciting story, just finsihed the second book too. I've also seen the movie too, which looked awesome and stayed pretty true to what I imagined much of the world would look like, but I think it would've been better as 2 movies or something, or just longer. The pace was too quick, like an action movie(which suits them, but not this), everything just happened too fast and wrecked the film.

I'm sure many people have seen it, but the wall where the piano used to be is now painted blue-green, it looks really nice, though it took some time to get used to.

About 3 months ago I got はかま(Japanese pants) In the mail, they're so awesome! I'm going to the Melbourne Anime  festival (Manifest) On Saturday; I'm wearing my new kimono and the hakama so I'll have to upload some pictures for everyone to see, hopefully I'll have a good time. Yay for anime craziness! ^_^

University is going pretty well (I'll upload some images soon), I've made a few friends even. It's hard work though, I've had more almost sleepless nights than I'd care to admit. On the whole though I'm having a great time and my skills are improving which is most important, though I still don't have any marks yet, so I don't know how well I'm going. I've taken a particular liking to Watercolour paints, I love the richness of the colour and how eesy they are to mix, I'll hopefully upload some of the stuff I've been doing with those soonish.

I really need to get a new computer soon, this one is on it's last legs (although "feet would probably be more accurate), its slow and has problems with the speakers sometimes and this really major problem where it sometimes just restarts, I still haven't managed to figure out what seems to be causing this problem...it's happenings seem so random. It's got to the point where I can't play gmaes anymore, though it seems that its more that my graphics card isn't supported rather than my computer no meeting the minimum system requirements.

Well thats about it really, not such a big update as I would've thought, I've really got to try and update at least once a week..

Oh by the way, although theres old stuff, I've uploaded all my stuff from my 1 year at Swinburne and photos of all my drawings from Northland Design Studies. I've also updated family photos with some pictures of Dargo, some pictures of me, birthday photos from my 22nd party.

Todays quote is from the intro to Dune 2000 (or Dune 2 as the intro was basically the same) I recenty got a copy of Emperor: Battle for Dune and also watching both Dune mini-series

Oh and 1 more silly thing, when Chris was over last week he put a doughnut on one of our clear plastic plates, only to discover he'd had the plate upside-down hehe so very silly

So anyways, catch you peoples next time.

じゃあ・ねえ
